Roger Kaiser, M.D. Roger Kaiser, M.D.
Chief Executive Officer

Dr. Roger Kaiser was chosen to lead the healthcare system as Chief Executive Officer in June, 2009. Dr. Kaiser, a director of Navigant’s Healthcare Practice, has an extensive clinical and management background, spanning almost 25 years serving integrated healthcare systems, academic medical centers, ambulatory surgical centers, public, not-for-profit and for-profit organizations.  Since joining Navigant, he has served in a wide range of interim management and consulting roles and led a number of hospital-based performance improvement engagements.  Prior to joining Navigant, Dr. Kaiser served as CEO of a 550-bed tertiary care hospital in New York State.



Mark Brazitis Mark Brazitis
Chief Implementation Officer

Mark Brazitis joined SRHS as Chief Implementation Officer in June, 2009. As Chief Implementation Officer, Brazitis oversees the health system’s initiatives related to operational and performance improvement. Brazitis has more than 25 years of industry experience, including serving as CEO of several regional medical centers.  His background includes working with not-for-profit as well as for-profit hospitals and health systems. Brazitis has provided consulting expertise to a variety of hospitals and health systems throughout the country focusing on performance improvement and other operating initiatives.



S. Waite Popejoy S. Waite Popejoy
Chief Restructuring Officer

S. Waite Popejoy joined SRHS as Chief Restructuring Officer in June 2009. Popejoy oversees the restructuring process of the health systems’ financial improvement plan, including both operational and capital restructuring. He is an executive with Navigant Consulting, Inc., (Navigant). Previously, Popejoy has served in various financial and other management roles with various hospital operators and healthcare related entities. 



David H. Wilhoite, CPA David H. Wilhoite, CPA
Chief Financial Officer

Wilhoite joined SRHS as Interim Chief Financial Officer in summer 2008, and very quickly assisted the organization in initiating a broad performance improvement plan during a very challenging time in the healthcare industry. Upon being named Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer in January 2009, Wilhoite became responsible for all revenue cycle personnel, including Patient Access, Health Information Management, Patient Financial Services, Managed Care and Finance.

Wilhoite started his career in healthcare finance 34 years ago, and has served as the senior financial expert for several hospitals and health systems throughout the Midwest.

Wilhoite is a Certified Public Accountant and earned a Master of Business Administration with a concentration in Finance and Accounting from the Amos Tuck School of Business Administration at Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics from the College of Wooster, Wooster, Ohio.


William D. MizeWilliam D. Mize
Vice President of Operations

William D. Mize joined Sumner Regional Health Systems, Inc., (SRHS) in 1994 as vice president of operations and has served as administrator of Trousdale Medical Center since May 2000. Prior to becoming a part of SRHS, Mize worked in several health care organizations, including Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Hospital Corporation of America and Rebound, Inc., a rehabilitation company. Additionally, he completed 23 years’ service in the U.S. Army Reserves attaining the rank of Lieutenant Colonel and is a veteran of Desert Storm.

Mize attained diplomat level in the American College of Health Care Executives and is a founding member of the Middle Tennessee Health Care Executives Association. He holds a bachelor’s degree in classical languages from Tulane University, New Orleans, La., and a master of science degree in hospital and health administration from the University of Alabama in Birmingham.



Anne MeltonAnne Melton, RN, MSN
Vice President of Clinical Services

Anne Melton joined Sumner Regional Medical Center (SRMC) in 2006 as director of nursing, and is currently vice president of clinical services. Her 30-year nursing career includes former leadership roles such as director of medical and surgical nursing at Middle Tennessee Medical Center (Murfreesboro, TN) and management at Vanderbilt University Medical Center (Nashville, TN). At SRMC, Melton has served on various clinical safety committees, and most recently she assisted with the transition of patients to SRMC’s new patient tower and with clinical preparation for recent Women’s Center renovations. Melton has also been instrumental in strategic planning for the growth and development of SRMC’s Women’s Services. She provides oversight for nursing services, emergency services, inpatient rehabilitation, women’s services, critical care, and surgical services.

Melton holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from the University of Tennessee, and received a Master of Science degree in Nursing at Vanderbilt University. She is actively involved in various healthcare organizations, including American Nursing Association, Tennessee Nursing Association, and Tennessee Organization of Nursing Executives.
