Wound Care
When a wound from an accident, underlying disease or infection isn’t healing properly, appropriate care can save life and limb.
Five million Americans will suffer from chronic wounds this year, with circulatory problems and diabetes being the most common culprits of these injuries. Because of the remarkable need for wound care treatment, Sumner Regional Medical Center began 2007 by devoting an entire department and staff to this necessity.
While wound care is a relatively new field of medicine, it is a much-needed program that is quickly gaining ground. SRMC's new program has seen patients come for treatment from as far away as Cookeville and Ashland City. Dr. Paige Reichert, Internal Medicine, serves as medical director, and she is one of only three Certified Wound Care Specialist Physicians in Middle Tennessee
