Laboratory Services
Sumner Regional Medical Center’s Laboratory has cutting-edge
technology that processes hundreds of tests daily.
The lab processes tests for inpatient orders, physician office
orders, as well as
for many businesses in the area that require drug
screens and other laboratory services through our Corporate
Health Services.
We strive to keep the newest technology to ensure
accurate and efficient results in order to provide better service
to our patients.
Some of our technology includes:
The Integra 800, which is used to analyze urine
samples for drug abuse, assess how a diabetic patient is managing
his or her disease and assess the general health of mental health
patients.
The Sysmex XE-2100, a hematology analyzer, is primarily
designed to do blood counts. This state-of-the-art
piece of equipment does a five-part differential,
which means it counts the blood
cells in a sample and categorizes these microscopic
cells into five categories based on each cell’s characteristics.
In a short amount of time this machine can help
determine whether a newborn is producing blood,
detect infections, assess a patient's
ability to produce cells appropriately in the bone
marrow or help determine if a cancer patient needs
a blood transfusion
because
of a low blood platelet or hemoglobin and hematocrit
count.
The Elecsys 2010, a chemistry analyzer that has
empowered the lab to conduct special chemistry tests to diagnose
congestive heart failure, assess the severity of heart attacks
by measuring chemicals in the blood and create thyroid profiles.
